Understanding Yankee Gutters

Yankee gutters, also known as Philadelphia gutters, have a rich history dating back to the 18th century. These discreet gutter systems are often found on older slate roofs of historic homes, contributing to the overall charm without being visible along the roofline. Comprising a V- or U-shaped wooden trough lined with metal, typically copper or terne-coated steel, Yankee gutters are designed to gracefully direct water away from your cherished historic abode.
